Membership Information:

Membership in the Guild is open to all who are interested in pursuing the art and craft of model ship building. At present there are over 20 active members, including professional and non-professional builders, naval artists, authors and maritime historians.

Although our members are primarily interested in building static model ships from the great age of sail, our members interests vary widely and include small craft, tug boats, passenger liners and steel hulled warships. While many members build from kits, a number are highly skilled scratch builders. Members build in all mediums, including wood, plastic and paper. Some members also build radio controlled models. See our Gallery page for photographs of our members' models.

Most current members live in the metropolitan and suburban New York City area. We meet at the South Street Seaport Museum which is readily accessible by subway, bus, ferry and automobile. See our Meetings page for further information.

Guild membership entitles you to attend Guild meetings, participate in Guild events and includes a subscription to the Guild newsletter, The Binnacle.

Prospective members and guests are always welcome at our meetings and can be nominated for full membership after attending three Guild meetings as a guest. If you are interested in joining, contact a member so we know to keep a sharp lookout for you -- our meeting room is not in the public area of the Museum.
